"ボスキャラであるクッパですら、ただ駆け抜けてゴールに到達するだけで、倒すことが出来る。上手い人だったら、クッパが登場してから一秒もかからず倒してしまうのではないだろうか。だからといってクッパがボスキャラクターとして存在感の無い駄目なキャラクターかと言えばそんなことは無く、クッパの足元、もしくは頭上を飛び越え、ゴールに到達する刹那の時間には、剣の達人同士が切り結ぶような、映画「椿三十郎」のラストーシーンのような緊張感のある濃密な感覚を味わうことができる。やはりマリオのライバルと言えばクッパなのだ。"
